The Rosewood Trail in Newbury Park is one of those rides you do when you want to have some fun but don't have a lot of time to do so. It can be done as a there and back type of ride or you can connect to it from other trails such as the Los Robles\Space Mountain Trail. In fact, it's very similar to Space Mountain since is basically part of the same trail system. It's just not as long and not as rocky as Space Mountain is making it a good choice for a nice quick ride that you don't have to think too much about. If you start at the bottom of the trail at the end of Regal Oak Ct. it's going to be an all uphill ride for 1.5 miles and then all downhill on the way back. Some people like to do the hard part first and earn the downhill so if that's you then you may want to hit the trail this way. If you wanted to make a long ride out of it you could park one car at the beginning of where Space Mountain starts at the end of Moorpark Rd. and one car at the end of Regal Oak Ct. and make it a 2 car ride. |

Rosewood Trail Review
For such a short ride, this trail can be a lot of fun... going down that is. Like mentioned before, it's very similar to Space Mountain but with less rocks to deal with which means you can ride it faster without having to worry about hitting a rock the wrong way and taking a dive into another rock. There are some rocky areas so don't think it's totally smooth sailing. The trail has some nice curves but the catch is that it's used by a lot of hikers and other bikers so you need to be careful that you don't run anyone over and slow down when approaching other people.
Since its only 1.5 miles you could easily do it twice without too much climbing effort if you are a decent rider and get 2 downhill runs completed in one day. The climb is pretty gradual and not too technical so it doesn't too long to complete. You should be able to make it to the top in 30 minutes and back down in 10. If you have riding time on a weekday then this would be a good one to do to avoid the crowds.

To get to the Rosewood trail hop on the 101 freeway towards Newbury Park and exit Ventu Park Rd and go west until you hit Lynn Rd. Then make a right on Lynn and then a left on Regal Oak Ct. and take it all the way to the end. There is a cul de sac where you can park as well as some other parking on the street across from the houses. Just try not to park in front on anyone's house to avoid making any residents upset.
The trail is pretty easy to find once you head into the dirt\grass area right next to the road and simply follow the trail up the hill. If you choose to do it the long way from Space Mountain then you will need to take the switchbacks all the way up from the end of Moorpark Rd. and continue following the trail as it starts to go back down and then back up again. The start of Rosewood Trail is marked with a sign and it will begin to the right of the current trail you will be riding on. If you reach the picnic bench then you have gone too far and will need to turn around and go a short distance back down the trail.
