Chesebro Canyon in Agoura Hills is one of those take it easy kind of rides when you just want something quick and easy to do or if you want to take the kids or maybe some mountain bike beginners out for a ride. The trail is pretty much like a fire road for the first part of it and then it becomes more of a singletrack trail with a few technical rocky areas. Once you get to the end of the main trail it T's off in a couple of directions giving you some more riding options including some nice switchbacks that will take you up to China Flats and the Albertson Fire Road trails. Along the main part of the trail there are also a few places you can turn off to check out some additional trails and fire roads. If you start from the Chesebro trailhead parking lot then you are in for a gradual uphill ride that is very easy to do. Then as the trail thins out it gets a little more difficult with some rocky areas to ride (or walk) up. Then you will get to the rock wall which is a small rocky hill that many try to ride up but most fail to accomplish. It's easy to just push your bike up and then move on. For the most part beginners should not have any problems on 90% of the trail. |

Chesebro Canyon Trail Review
If you are looking for thrills and fast paced riding then this may not be the place for you. And if you are looking for a place that is not crowded or full of hikers than this is definitely not the place for you! Chesebro Canyon gets very crowded on the weekends when the weather is nice and people get there early to beat the heat. The parking lot fills up quickly but there is another lot closer to the main road so you can usually find a spot. Like mentioned before, the ride up is very gradual and easy to do and coming back down can actually be quite fun if you can avoid other people. Since it's a gradual downhill on the way back you can keep your speed pretty fast and there are a few berms off to the side to give you a slight thrill. Coming down the rock wall is fun too if you are into that kind of thing. With the right bike you can go down it pretty fast and even get some air time. If you hang a left at the T in the trail at the end on the way up and hit up the switchbacks they are pretty fun coming back down and there are a couple of technical sections on the way.

Directions
To get to the Chesebro Canyon trailhead parking lot take the 101 to the Chesebro exit and head east on Chesebro\Palo Comado Canyon Rd to the stop sign. Then hang a right on Chesebro Rd and follow it .7 miles to Chesebro Canyon Rd where you will make a right. You can either park right in the paved parking lot or drive up the road a little ways to the dirt parking lot and park at the trailhead. The main trail is pretty obvious since its right there and looks like a fire road.
