The trail system in the Santa Rosa\Hill Canyon Park which we don't think is technically a park consists mainly of singletrack riding as well as some fire roads. If you want to do some uphill riding to get your exercise then it does offer some of that. If you prefer to take it easier and do some flat singletrack riding then you can do that as well. There is even a couple of places you can have some minor downhill fun such as going down the fire roads as well as a decent singletrack trail with some technical areas.

For the most part it's pretty much your typical cut and dry type of trails that you would find anywhere else. If you want to ride up to Wildwood Park it's possible to do so from here and there are a couple of ways to get there. Then you can have some fun riding back down. Or if you are in Wildwood to begin with and want to extend your ride then you can check out the trails here.

Santa Rosa\Hill Canyon Park Review

Like mentioned before, Santa Rosa\Hill Canyon Park is your typical fire road and mellow singletrack trails but there are some fun parts to it as well if you want to put out the effort. For example when you come down the main trail it splits off you can go uphill to the right and it's pretty fun coming back down. Going this way will also take you to some fire roads or if you like there are trails that go all the way down to Camarillo. Just be careful not to go onto private property while riding around but it should be marked if it's off limits. If you keep going straight you will get to some nice singletrack that goes through the trees and will meet up with another fire road that will connect you to the other section of trails. The trails are usually not too crowded but you may come across some hikers and the occasional horse so be aware of that.

So If you live close by its worth checking out but if you have to take a long drive to get there then maybe not so much. It's also very close to the Hill Canyon Treatment Plant so there may be some potential smells to deal with! If you do decide to head towards the treatment plant you will see a trail off to the left that will take you into Wildwood Park. From there you can ride up to the waterfall or up the switchbacks\Lizard Trail to the top section of the park.

To get to the Santa Rosa trails you will want to take Santa Rosa Rd from Camarillo, Thousand Oaks or Moorpark. There are several ways to get Santa Rosa Rd and this will vary depending on where you are coming from so Google Maps is your friend. Once on Santa Rosa Rd look for Hill Canyon Rd and take a right if coming from Camarillo or a left if coming from Thousand Oaks or Moorpark.

Once on Hill Canyon Rd you will see a parking lot on the right hand side just a little ways down the road. Park in this lot and then ride your bike a little further down the road and you will see a bridge off to the right. Go over this bridge and then you will be on the beginning of the trail system. If you stay on the paved road that will take you to the treatment plant and you should be able to get into Wildwood from there as well.
