The Las Llajas Canyon Trail in Simi Valley shouldn’t really be called a trail since it’s pretty much a fire road. It's located on the east side of Simi Valley and actually connects to the Rocky Peak fire road. Many people will take this trail up to Rocky Peak and then come down Chumash Trail to make a loop. This way you get to add some singletrack to your ride and Chumash Trail is one of the better trails around the area. You can also take Rocky Peak fire road a little further over to Hummingbird Trail. |

Las Llajas Canyon Trail Review
When it comes to fire road rides they tend not to be too exciting. There is something about a fire road that just screams average ride. And the Las Llajas Canyon Trail is one of those average rides. There is nothing technical or fast about the ride and the scenery is average as well. This is one of those rides you do when you want something quick and easy for the exercise, are taking the family out for a ride, or even breaking in a beginner mountain biker.
Going up the trail is pretty easy and a beginner should not have a problem handling the incline. Coming back down can be a little fun since you can get some speed if you put a little pedal power into it. There are some curves to the trail so it's not all a straight line. There are also a few cutout on the hillside where you can ride up a berm and get a little air. Or you can make your own I suppose too. For the most part it’s not one of those rides you will do more than once unless you make a loop out of it with Chumash or Hummingbird so check it out if you are in the area with your biker otherwise there are much better trails around.

To get to the Las Llajas Canyon Trail get on the 118 freeway heading to Simi Valley and exit on Yosemite Ave and head north on Yosemite until you get to Evening Sky Dr. where you will make a right turn. Drive up Evening Sky about a quarter mile and you will see a paved road with a gate.
Park around there and head down the paved road and keep to the right and it will soon turn to dirt and you will be on Las Llajas. There will be one more area where you will see a trail veer off to the right but you want to stay to the left at this point. When you see a sign saying private property after riding about 3.5 miles that's when you can turn around and come back the way you came or go off to the right and up to the Rocky Peak fire road.
