If you have ever done any outdoor activities that involve high speed then you know the importance of wearing eye protection to keep things like dirt and the wind out of your eyes so you don’t have any accidents. This is especially important when it comes to mountain biking because there is a lot of dirt flying around and it's easy for it to get in your eyes and cause some problems. If you have ever ridden at night with a light and have someone in front of you then you will see how much dirt is actually being thrown up in the air and into your face.

Many people use sunglasses or clear glasses when riding which definitely helps but if you want full protection you should be wearing goggles. Goggles allow for a seal to be formed around your eyes so that no dirt gets in to get into your eyes. There are many brands of goggles at many price levels and the top of the line stuff can get expensive.

Oakley has been in the eyewear game for years and offer up a pair of inexpensive yet very effective goggles. The Oakley E-Frame MX goggles are a nice quality pair of goggles that offer good protection while being comfortable and affordable at the same time. At around $30 you can't beat the price for the protection they offer.

Oakley E-Frame MX Goggles

The E-Frame MX goggles have a flexible frame designed to maximize your peripheral view, a thick foam fleece to keep the sweat out and an anti-fog and anti-scratch lens to keep your view clear. The goggles tend to be a little smaller than other models which can be a benefit if you are wearing a full face helmet with a small opening but should not block your vision unless maybe you have a really big head.

We tested out a couple pairs of these goggles on a couple of riders and both liked the way they performed and did not have any issues with them. One complaint is that it would be nice if they had some tinting to them for when you are in the direct sunlight. They kept the sweat out while remaining comfortable even when wearing them for a long period of time. If you have a larger full face helmet you will have to extend the strap out almost all the way to have it stretch around the outside. The goggles are fairly light as well so you really don't notice them being there. They may look small but once you put them on you should be fine with the way they fit.

So if you are looking for a cheap pair of goggles that will do the job then give the E-Frame MX goggles a try. They are nice to have so you don't have to worry about beating up an expensive pair of goggles that may not even perform any better to begin with.
